Local teachers invite you to Koh Lanta, Thailand
Located in Krabi Province, Koh Lanta is an island in southern Thailand. Smaller and quieter than the better known islands of Phuket, Samui and Pha Ngan, it is just starting to develop.

One resort which offers year-round yoga is Relax Bay (www.relaxbay.com), where Canadian Dylan teaches vinyasa classes on a platform by the beach. He also teaches at Pimalai (www.pimalai.com) which is at the south end of the island.
Mona, and American, has been on Lanta for a few seasons and has taught at a few different resorts in previous years, including the Sanctuary and Relax Bay. She now teaches at the Andaman Sunflower resort ( www.andaman-sunflower.com) also at Phra Ae beach and has a shala on the beach.
Annelie is Swedish and is in her third season on Koh Lanta. She teaches beginners Ashtanga Vinyasa, doing the primary series to around Navasana at her own shala close to Klong Dao beach not far from the ferry onto Koh Lanta. Her business is The Retreat (www.lantayogameditation.com).
Stefan from Austria teaches at the Sanctuary, also at Phra Ae and has a shala on the beach. He teaches the Ashtanga Vinyasa sequence with an open minded approach, including modifications, and also incorporates some Pilates into the routine around Navasana. He calls his system Beyond Ashtanga Yoga, and can be reached through www.astangayoga.at. It is his second season on the island and he plans to stay until March.
All of the shalas/yoga platforms here can hold around 12-18 people or so, and so you can be assured plenty of personal attention. All locations are open air so you will be blessed with fresh ocean breezes while you practice, giving you lots of prana, and the sounds of nature to soothe you. Relax Bay, Pimalai, the Andaman Sunflower, and the Sanctuary all have accommodation available as well as Yoga, and also welcome you to practice Yoga if you are staying in another resort.

A parting letter

To all those who passed through the studio at the Mandarin since my arrival in May last year...I just wanted to say thank you for the opportunity to teach and practice with you. In order for a teaching situation to arise, there has to be a student. Without a student there is no teacher, and no teaching.

Teaching has become the most precious practice for me, as it is the gateway discovering what is important. What is important? Kindness, concern and care for one another. To give it a name: compassion. This does not always mean giving what is expected. Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche coined the term, ‘Idiot Compassion which is giving without wisdom. Giving heroin to an addict is idiot compassion. True compassion is about being fully present and awake, in all our humanness, and sharing that with others: being available to others. We share our strengths as well as our weaknesses, accepting the same in others. And when accepting becomes difficult, then we offer this as fuel to the fire for even deeper acceptance, and become grateful for the opportunity to grow.

Thank you for all of your kind words, wishes, gestures and gifts. May peace and joy follow you always.

With love
Kim Roberts
