Joe Pereira is a Catholic priest and a Senior Iyengar Yoga teacher from Mumbai, India. He is well known for his work with the needy. In the 1980’s, he worked in Calcutta with Mother Theresa. He began what is now India's largest non-governmental charitable health organization, The Kripa Foundation. Although controversial at the time, he blended his Catholic faith with the practice of yoga and developed a powerful healing tool that he uses to help people of all faiths and backgrounds.

The Centre for Buddhist Studies at HKU is a good resource and has monastics on its faculty from different lineages.
“Each of us can work to change a small portion of events and in the total of those acts will be written the history of this generation. Each time a man stands up for an ideal or acts to improve the lot of others, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”
