Q & A

Q:

Dear Peter

Thanks for the spirulina. I remember that you used to write about Holistics for the SCMP and was wondering if you could recommend or give me the contact details of (reputable!) hypnotherapists in Hong Kong please.

Kind regards

Jennifer

Preparing to Push – Yoga for Labour and Delivery

Hong Kong –Pure Yoga Central
4 – 14 September 2008

Why must we prepare to push?
Labour is intense, focused and seriously hard work. Yet the reward for our efforts is an experience that will be cherished, remembered and re-told for a lifetime.

In this 4-session programme, the intention is to empower and educate women about their own body’s ability to give birth. It is designed delve deeper into the specifics of the exhale pushing technique and will explore topics that are beyond the scope of a regular pre-natal class. We will learn to prepare for the marathon of labour with enthusiasm, anticipation and excitement by gaining knowledge and confidence in the following areas:
• Deepening our connection to our breath as a way of connecting to the energetic flow. Belly breathing, three-part breath, the birthing breath

• Understanding the anatomy of our birthing muscles, specifically our pelvic floor and abdominals. Introducing and practising exhale pushing

• Practising various birthing positions that help with the natural expulsion of the baby. Gaining a physiological understanding of how these positions open the pelvic outlet to allow the most easeful labour.

• Connecting with partners - together with a guest massage therapist we will learn how our partners can help during the second and third stages of labour using manual techniques and helpful assistance in our pushing positions.

*A minimum of 10 participants is required or programme will be cancelled.
